Inspiring Minds, Creating Futures
Literacy
At St Bernard's, literacy is taught in alignment with the Northern Ireland Curriculum, helping children develop vital skills in reading, writing, talking, and listening. Through a rich and varied approach, we foster a love for language and storytelling, encouraging creativity and self-expression. Pupils are supported to develop strong phonics, comprehension, and grammar skills, enabling them to become confident and effective communicators. By engaging with a wide range of texts and genres, children build their vocabulary, imagination, and understanding of the world around them. Our aim is to nurture confident, independent learners who are prepared for lifelong literacy success.
